Shaw Industry Acquires Georgia Tufters

Shaw Industries and Georgia Tufters, Inc. announced that Shaw has acquired Georgia Tufters, Inc., headquartered in Calhoun, Georgia, from majority owners Jeff and Fredrick Brown. Jeff Meadows, head of Shaw's rug division, stated," We are very pleased with this strategic acquisition. Georgia Tufters has been a well-managed operation, with product lines highly complementary to our current offerings of custom tufted, fabricated, printed, and machine-woven rugs. Rick Brown, Jeff Brown, Tommy Caldwell and the rest of the management team have maintained excellent relationships with their key customers in the mass merchant, catalog, and specialty store categories. We will now be able to offer our combined customers an even broader selection of rug products with unmatched style, value, and quality." Georgia Tufters, whose primary product lines include tufted bathroom and scatter rugs, will become part of Shaw's Rug Division, and will maintain operations at the Calhoun, Georgia manufacturing site.
