Curt Christian's Highland Design Expanding into Dining

Furniture designer and manufacturer Curt Christian announced that he is brining a whole new look to his Highland Design label at High Point this April with his first foray into Dining. The company had a record-setting performance in Las Vegas in January 2008, more than doubling their sales average from the previous two shows there. The company’s niche has long been in mid-price, high quality master bedroom, with a progressively greater emphasis on transitional Lifestyle designs. That continued to be the engine of success with several new styles for bedroom, but they also stepped out with a test showing of a prototype dining group. Dining accounted for nearly 30% of orders written, and was made the centerpiece of this April High Point market. The dining group is an extension of his Weston collection, featuring its trademark two-tone Rosewood finish, concave curved drawer fronts and no visible hardware on case pieces. The dining table is a 72” x 42” inch base size, with two, locking 15” extensions for a maximum length of 102”. The seating is intentionally generous, with extra plush upholstering on a 24” square seat frame, in both side and arm chairs. All have waterproof, low gloss finishes. The Weston swiftly became his top-selling bedroom line when introduced in 2007, and it is no surprise that the dining had an equally strong reception. It delivers the fashion styling, high end construction and moderate price points most desirable to the Lifestyle buyer, the fastest-growing segment. The extension table, 2 arm chairs and 4 side chairs is intended to retail between $2,500 and $2,995. The theme for market will be Indulgence, with thousands of fine chocolates and other simple, affordable luxuries given away pre-market and during the show. It is being supported with an extensive web and direct marketing invitation program. Two new bedroom groups will also be featured. Curt Christian’s Highland Design showroom is in the Atrium at 430 S. Main Street, down from the National Furniture Mart and IHFC buildings.
