Dr. Robert G. Addison, M.D., returned to Sealy headquarters March 17, 2008 for a dedication ceremony to celebrate his contributions to the development of the original Sealy Posturepedic in the 1950s. Dr. Addison is an honorary member of the Orthopedic Advisory Board (OAB), comprised of top orthopedic surgeons, researchers and clinicians from leading universities and medical centers. The OAB, created by Sealy in 2006 to emphasize orthopedically correct design in its product development, played a vital role in developing the latest Sealy Posturepedic, which will arrive in retail outlets this spring.
"Dr. Addison’s insight into the development of the original Sealy Posturepedic was critical in helping Sealy become the world’s number one mattress manufacturer,” said Dr. Alan Letton, chief science officer and vice president, research and technology innovation for Sealy. “His research and findings are still being used today by our Orthopedic Advisory Board, which has designed the new Posturepedic line to eliminate one of the world’s greatest sleep obstacles—tossing and turning caused by pressure points.”
