Steve Cumbow Named COO Of Spring Air

The Spring Air Company announce that it has appointed Steve Cumbow chief operating office of the company, effective immediately. Cumbow joined Spring Air full-time on June 1st of this year, as its chief financial officer, after a brief period as a consultant. In addition to overseeing the finance and shared services departments, he adds manufacturing and supply chain management to his portfolio. “In a few short months, Steve has made a tremendous contribution to our senior leadership team and to our company. He dramatically improved the performance level of the finance department and has been a great resource for the entire organization,” said Spring Air Chief Executive Officer Bob Hellyer. Hellyer said that Cumbow’s as more than 20 years experience in senior financial positions with leading corporations gave him a deep understanding of manufacturing and operations beyond finance, and these have proven to be great skills that have helped Spring Air immensely. “Spring Air is a great company and brand. I think Bob and the entire senior leadership team have put us on the right course of delivering quality, service and value to our customers, and I am happy to be able to assist in this direction by adding a broader set of responsibilities,” said Cumbow. Before joining the company full time, Cumbow was a vice president with American Capital Strategies (ACAS) and has been working with Spring Air on a number of finance and business matters. Before joining ACAS, Cumbow was chief financial officer of Coverall North America, a $300 million commercial cleaning franchisor. Prior to that post, he was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of SIRVA’s ($1.2 billion) Moving Services division, which included North American Van Lines, Allied Van Lines and Global Van Lines. Earlier in his career, he held senior finance positions here and abroad at Alliant Foodservice, Hewlett-Packard and Arthur Andersen. He received his master’s degree in business administration from Loyola College in 1990 and his bachelor’s of science degree in mechanical engineering in 1985 from the University of Kansas. He and his family current reside in the Tampa area. Cumbow is active in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and is a past board member of the United Way. Cumbow replaced Chief Financial Officer Ron Lueptow who left the company to pursue other interests.
