Outlast Technologies, the pioneer in phase-change technology, announced that its top-of-the-line platinum level temperature-regulating material is exclusive to the newly enhanced Sleep Number 9000 bed model.
The Sleep Number 9000 bed is perfect for couples with different temperature preferences since the Outlast® technology allows two sleepers to find compatibility in the same bed. According to a recent survey conducted by Select Comfort Corporation, creators of the Sleep Number bed, one in five Americans reports having disagreements with their partners about the sleeping temperature1. And approximately 37 percent of Americans have trouble falling asleep because they are too hot.
“The new Sleep Number 9000 incorporates a unique blend of Outlast® technology that is delivered at a Platinum level and offers a greater capacity to buffer temperature swings,” explained Guy Eckert, Executive Vice President of Business Development at Outlast. “We are excited that Select Comfort has opted to expand and enhance its current Outlast® offerings in its bed models, which goes along way to delivering even greater value to its customers.”
HOW OUTLAST® TECHNOLOGY WORKS
Outlast® temperature-regulating technology is a high-performance material originally developed for NASA. It’s designed to balance a sleeper's skin temperature, allowing him or her to remain comfortable during the night. Unlike traditional fabric and insulation that trap heat, products with patented Outlast® Thermocules™ actually absorb your excess body heat when you become too warm, and release it back when you need it.
ABOUT THE NEW SLEEP NUMBER® 9000 BED
The new Sleep Number 9000 bed features breathable European-inspired boucle fabric that creates an incomparably soft and luxurious sleep surface. Boucle fabric allows for excellent heat transfer, and when combined with platinum-level Outlast® technology, can provide an unparalleled experience for people who sleep hot. The mattress fabric also provides effective vapor and moisture transfer, wicking away heat and sweat for added comfort while sleeping. In addition, the 13-inch duvet-style pillowtop features Sleep Number's exclusive Dual Foam Layering System™, which allows each sleeper to customize his or her side of the mattress by choosing which foam layer is most comfortable for them.
"The layered technologies in the newly enhanced Sleep Number 9000 bed provide the ultimate comfort experience," said Greg Pesky, Product Director for Consumer Mattresses with Select Comfort. "Our patented technology allows you to adjust the firmess and support of your side of the mattress to a Sleep Number between 0 and 100, while Outlast® technology responds to your body temperature."
