Tropitone Furniture Co., a leading manufacturer of fine casual furniture, announced that it continues to expand its Stoneworks™ solid surface table tops with the debut of the Zagora Collection. The company’s Stoneworks table tops create the classic look of natural materials, even though they are made from weather-resistant synthetic materials. These materials make them more durable for outdoor use and lightweight for ease of moving. According to Tropitone’s vice president of design, Peter Homestead, the new Zagora table tops have a surface designed to resemble leather and hammered bronze. This combination distinguishes them from the company’s current Stoneworks table tops -- the Palazzo and Tiled Stone Collections. The Palazzo table tops feature a rustic, old-world tiled look, while the Tiled Stone table tops have the textured appearance of slate in the center and are surrounded with a faux granite outer edge. “As the outdoor room continues to evolve into a living space that can be as beautifully furnished as the indoors of our homes, Tropitone’s ongoing focus is to offer consumers casual furniture for these outdoor rooms that is fashionable, comfortable, and durable. At the same time, Tropitone provides a broad array of options, including finishes and fabrics, allowing individuals to customize their outdoor furnishings in much the same way as they do their indoor furnishings. “As the most recent addition to our Stoneworks Collection, Zagora has a particularly rich and elegant style. By using man-made materials, we are able to create a unique table top with a very upscale look that would not be practical for outdoor use, if made with real leather and bronze,” Homestead said. All of the table tops in the Tropitone Stoneworks’ Collection are molded as one piece from high density urethane with layers of patina either brushed or rubbed on by hand to create the appearance of natural materials. In the case of Zagora, a piece of natural leather is used to create the mold, making it possible for the table tops to so closely resemble leather. The Zagora tabletops are currently offered in a coloration called Aged Ochre, which resembles a natural bronze finish designed to coordinate with Tropitone’s wide variety of frame finishes. Tropitone has the competitive advantage of being one of a few companies in the casual furniture industry with the technology and manufacturing capabilities to design and produce its own high-quality solid surface table tops. The company is debuting the Zagora Collection as well as other seating, table top and shade solutions at The International Casual Furniture and Accessories Market at The Merchandise Mart in Chicago Sept. 15 - 18 in Tropitone’s permanent showroom (#1780). Founded in 1954, Tropitone is based in Irvine, California, and is recognized throughout the casual furniture marketplace for its design leadership as well as its commitment to service and value. The company sells its products to retailers, designers and the hospitality trade under the Tropitone and Basta Sole trademarks. In addition to its headquarters and manufacturing plant in Irvine, the company operates a manufacturing facility in Florida. For more information about the company, visit www.tropitone.com.
