The German exhibition companies in Hannover (Deutsche Messe AG), Frankfurt (Messe Frankfurt GmbH) and Cologne (KölnMesse GmbH) are now taking their cooperative marketing approach "on the road". This cooperative approach was developed just last autumn for DOMOTEX HANNOVER (World Trade Fair for Carpets and Floor Coverings), HEIMTEXTIL (International Home Textile Fair for Floor/Wall/Window Decoration & Furniture Fabrics, plus Bed/Bath/Table & Kitchen Linen) and the INTERNATIONAL FURNITURE FAIR, the No. 1 for furniture in the world. These three trade shows are again scheduled to run consecutively in the coming year. HEIMTEXTIL starts the ball rolling in Frankfurt, beginning Wednesday, 12th January 2000 and ending Saturday, 15th January 2000. DOMOTEX HANNOVER opens its doors on the same Saturday, 15th January and then closes after four exhibition days on Tuesday, 18th January, while the INTERNATIONAL FURNITURE FAIR in Cologne takes place from Monday, 17th January to Sunday, 23rd. The back-to-back timing of these three leading trade fairs enhances the attractiveness of Germany as a trade fair destination to international visitors from the closely related sectors represented at these fairs. It provides professionals from abroad with an opportunity to see the world's largest selection of carpets and floor coverings, home and household textiles, furniture and kitchens (in even-numbered years) or furniture and lighting (in odd-numbered years) during just one visit to Germany, thereby saving them time and money. This cooperative approach by the three trade fair companies extends to a joint advertising campaign and a total of six shared press conferences in Asia and America. Apart from the common goal of attracting visitors, this cooperative venture is also an effective way to provide the specialist media with plenty of detailed information about the fairs and practical advice on travel and visitor arrangements. It furthermore represents an ideal opportunity to promote Germany as an attractive international trade fair destination. This collaboration by the three exhibition companies handling largely complementary fairs is evidence of the concrete steps now being taken to pool resources and share marketing activities, the ultimate goal being to achieve a long-term improvement in Germany's standing in the highly competitive global trade fair market.
