When you’ve done a local Google search, have you ever noticed your competitor listed at the top of the page next to a map?
Ever wondered how you could get your company there? Or maybe you’re already there, but there’s no additional information like your competitor’s.
You can access Google’s powerful local business center tool for free.
It allows you to upload your business description, hours, web address, etc. In addition, you can upload pictures, video links, and other valuable information. You can even correct the map marker if needed.
It really is a mini-website.
By the way, you don’t have to have a website to get a listing.
Once you’ve submitted your information, within 24-hours your company could be at the top of a search results page!
To access this tool in Google, just go to their local business center page. If you don’t have a Google Account, you will be prompted to sign up. Once that is done, just follow the prompts.
If your business is already listed on the maps, Google will guide you through the “matching up” process to verify you are the actual owner. It’s easy.
What is especially neat about adding pictures is that often you will see an image of your product along with your name!
Once you are done uploading Google (1 to 4 hours of work), then move on to Yahoo’s local listings and do the same thing.
EASY FURNITURE WEB TIP #37: Google and Yahoo’s free local business search services are incredibly friendly to local businesses. They help your business show up on maps and at the top of search pages, even if you don’t have a website!
