Easy Furniture Web Tip 288: Are You Guessing At Keywords?

Do you ever have a discussion with your staff about which keyword phrase folks use for your products?
For example, do folks search more for couch or sofa?
To find out the answer, you need to do keyword research. There are many tools out there to use, but I will share my personal favorite. It’s called Keywords Everywhere.
It’s a “free” tool that works as a browser add-on for Chrome or Firefox. I put “free” in quotes because they had to start charging $1 a year to get rid of some pesky bot issues.
I like it because it’s really quick, unlike some other tools I’ve used. I just open my browser, type in a keyword and I get information.
As you can see from the above “sofa” gets more monthly searches than “couch” but couch also gets a hefty amount of searches.
You’ll want to make sure your website has pages optimized for both terms.
In addition to search volume, the tool gives related keyword information.
With the suggested keywords above, you can develop other pages, like maybe one for “discount sofas.”
This tool can also provide deeper data, but you will need to purchase credits. Still the free version provides plenty of information to get started.
