Interior designers know the importance of secondary and accent colors in designing a room.
The right colors against a dominant color bring unity, interest, and life to a room.
The colors selected may be drawn from a patterned piece of furniture or a large picture or another large element in the room.
But have you thought through the secondary and accent colors for your website?
It can make a big difference.
Most likely, you’ll wish to draw your colors from your branding images, like your logo or banner or both.
Once you have done that, then use those colors in headings, subheads, and other special elements.
I like the interior designer rule of 60-30-10.
- 60% being the dominant color — for websites, black and white, or dark gray and white
- 30% is the secondary color
- 10% is the accent color
