I’ve noticed that many platforms for building websites are touting their products as “SEO Friendly.”
My concern is that folks who purchase and use these platforms will think that their search engine optimization (SEO) comes with their platforms.
Definitely, wrong.
“SEO Friendly” simply means that some technical roadblocks have been removed. For example, the system may generate web addresses for a page that have words in them rather than a bunch of wonky letters and numbers. But the platform won’t tell you how to write your web address with a targeted keyword phrase.
“SEO Friendly” may also mean the platform comes with some tools that makes it easier to write optimized title, description, and alt tags. But the platform won’t tell you how to write your tags with a critical targeted phrase.
An “SEO Friendly” platform is a terrific start. Just make sure you are prepared to do the hard work of search optimization yourself.
Easy Furniture Web Tip #233: “SEO Friendly” doesn’t mean your site is optimized for search engines.
