In 2004, Donald Rumsfeld said, "You go to war with the army you have, not the army you might want or wish to have at a later time.”
To me that makes a lot of sense. Of course you want to have the best recruits, the best weapons, the best equipment, and the best training. But if your enemy is bearing down on you, you can’t wait for everything to be perfect.
You’ll be toast.
All you really need is an army that’s better than the enemy’s army.
It doesn’t even have to be a lot better. A little better is enough to win a war.
And it’s the same for your website marketing and Internet marketing campaigns.
You don’t have to have the best marketing campaign, just one that’s better than your competition.
Often I read articles from experts about the must-haves for effective websites and marketing campaigns. They contain useful information; but, many of them are over the top for smaller companies with limited resources.
That can be dispiriting for the business owner.
The good news is that you don’t have to do all those must-haves. You can go to battle with the resources you do have.
For example, someone may have told you that your website needs a complete redesign. Maybe it does. Or maybe, for now, a quick makeover will do.
Sometimes just revising a few key pages will make a world of difference for search engine results, sales, and your bottom line.
